Scooter Racing at Sandyhook Speedway

Hey Race fans,

We raced this past weekend at Sandyhook Speedway. The track was a great track and very tight. The SRC Race Team raced in the F2  and F3 class. These classes had mini pocketbikes , midbikes ,NSR’s and scooters. Tommy Thunder of team SRC brought home trophies for 2nd in the F2 class and 3rd in the F3 class. He had to work hard for these spots as most of the bikes he was racing had an advantage with gears. He pushed his Yamaha Zuma and his bodyto the limits and it seemed to pay off. This track is tight and small compared to some of the tracks we have raced on in the past , but after a little practice team SCR had the track dialed in.

Scooter Mike also did well on this track and also tried out a new racing scooter that Tommy Thunder and himself built the night before the race. The sccoter did pretty good but some lower frame components need to be removed so the scooter can lean a little more . Mikes QJ scooter did very well however and this track seemed to be just right for that scooter . All in all it was a great race day .This track is only one hour from our shop so we will be racing here as much as possable.

We would like to thank the guys from X.M.R  Xtreme Mini Racers for haveing us come out . These guy’s had some cool rides and build them also. We met them at VIR this year and we were glad to get with them and race again. Thanks guy’s for a great time . We will see you again at Sandy hook in Oct.

Motard racing at VIR

Motard racing is becoming very popular. This is a style of racing that can be very fun and affordable. If you have a dirtbike you just add street tires and a few small catch cans for fuel and oil and you can be on the track . Most tracks have differant rules to follow but with the proper saftey gear and bike you are racing.

We went down to Virgina International Speedway this year with our scooters and motards and had a blast.  It is a great way to get on the track. Mostly 50cc-125cc but some tracks have the bigger bikes all the way up to 500cc. Here is a little video fro VIR

SRC Racing at VIR

 SRC Racing Team
The team has once again moved to the top of the points standing with their win at VIR Speedway. The team is doing great this year with lots of wins under its belt. Tommy Thunder has yet to give up first place to anyone yet .He has even been out on the track with a few KTM 470CC PLUS and kept right up in with them thru the tight parts of the track ,as for the long straits well thats another story , but he gets right back on them in the turns.
Here is our race camp at VIR

Here is some footage of the SRC  Race Crew at Virginia International Speedway this year in June for the Championship Cup Series. .
Our scooter team took first , second and third place in finals for 50 cc and 70 cc classes
Tommy Thunder 1st place on 2000 zuma two stroke
Scooter Mike     2nd place on Yamati  two stroke
Shiffty Shifflet    3rd place on RSM four stroke
Lightning Levy who is one of our shop mechanics and techs has joined us this year on an RSM Four stroke scooter and is doing great he has got a few thirds and a second place in the Grass Roots Racing compitition at Colonial Beach Speedway. He tried to over take his teammate Tommy Thunder on the last lap of the finals and did get by him but lost the scooter in the turn as he passed Tommy and layed it down . We have since called him Lay it down Levy. LOL
Scooter Mike who is the owner of Scootertronics and the SRC Team has also come onto the track this year. He is riding a custom Yamati 70cc scooter built by Tommy Thunder. This scooter rips and Mike has became a great race competitor and enjoys all the track time with his team.
We added a new rider in june when Levy could not make the VIR race and Shifty Phil Shifflet came out to fill in Levy’s place .He did great and we are now building a scooter for Shiftey to race full on with us .

Scooter racing is a way for all to get involved with the racing industry at a very small cost so come out and check it out .

Scooter Racing

SRC Race Team at the New Jersey Motorsports Park
Well racers and race fans this weekend had to be one of the best times that the SRC Race team has had This race season. We were invited by Ryan Fleming and the NJ MiniGP to come out and race on the Liberator. This is a great full on pro track at NJ Motorsports Park. This is the sister facility to Virgina International Speedway which we had the pleasure of racing at earlier this year.
Ryan and his people were all great and we were glad to begin to be a part of racing with them. The NJ MiniGP is a group run by Ryan that is set up to get the family on the track. Mom ,Dad and the kids .They will teach you how to ride in a competitive racing atmosphere . They provide on track instruction in their novice classes and also a more personal on and off track instuction if requseted. They have adult and child classes from 50cc to 150cc and ages starting at at 5 years old.

So we raced our scooters side by side with motards and NSR’s. What a challange this was. We also had more scooters on the track with us then we have all season. Bill Buff from Atlantic Coast Scooters brought out two of their scooters that really made us work harder than ever on the track. He also had a pro motorcross rider racing one of his scooters along with Ryan Fleming from NJ MiniGP on his other scooter. These guys were great and made the day so much more fun and very competitive . For the first time this year our team could not bring home the first place trophy , but thats ok it was all worth it the day was fantastic and the whole team had a blast. We got to meet some new people and would like to thank all involved for providing a safe and competitive race day. I also must thank all the folks at the NJ Motorsports Park for a great job and a great place.
