We had riders from Pa. VA. and all over MD! Here are some pics from the day. Thanks to all that came out. This ride benefited the Thurmont Food Bank.

Riding in Thurmont and the Catoctins

Riding in Thurmont Maryland is some of the best riding possible. Scooter, motorcycle, bicycle or car for that matter. The roads have endless possibility to what you will find next around the next turn. Lakes, mountains, campgrounds, parks, small towns with all the great stuff to explore

We ride here a lot on scooters and motorcycles. I have recently had the chance to put on a couple of great rides and have met some great clubs. At the Thurmont Daze Scooter Rally the Over the Belt Gang joined us at Scootertronics to help raise some food for the Thurmont food bank. They are a great bunch of local guys who love to ride their scooter on Sunday morn/afternoon. “They live to ride and Ride to Eat” is what I was told their motto is. Well its true. I went out the next Sunday after our Daze ride and had a blast riding all over some beutiful roads and then stopping for some great food at a Deli in Detour Md. Good time s Guys!

I spent the rest of that Sunday riding and hiking in the Catoctin mountains. What a great day it was .

Charm City’s Mods vs Rockers

Don’t ask us why the funky old burgh ofEssex, Maryland is now referred to as Charm City, but maybe it has something to do with the vibrant rocker and scooter scene springing up there.

We’ll see for ourselves when the First Annual Charm City Mods VS Rockers rally takes place on August 28 at Brewer’s Landing Bar and Grill. What’s going down? Well, we’re hearing promises of several hundred participants on new and vintage cafe racers, classic Britbikes and scooters of all varieties; there’s a pin-up girl contest sponsored by Cat Fight photography so if you’re  a fan of heavily-tattooed broads with spike heels and serious bangs, this may be your favorite spectator sport! Check out some live music from the , Motorettes who will be playing all day long. This event is centrally located to Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Delaware an other East Coast locales, so there’s no reason to miss out. Click on the flyer at left and be sure to run a comb through your quiff before leaving the house.

Thurmont Scooter Daze

Scooters from all over converged in to the town of Thurmont Md. for a great cause. Scootertronics with Scooter Mike and Tommy Thunder, The Mid Atlantic Scooter Racing Commission, The over the belly scooter club, Thurmont’s own scooter club and Brickyard Recording Studios helped put on a ride and rally to benifit the Thurmont food bank.

The turnout was great despite of the chance of rain. We had 35-40 scoots show upat Scootertronics. They cam from all over Md. Va. and Pa. There were Genuine Buddy’s , Vespas (new and vintage), Piaggio, Kymco, Apillia, Eton, Keeway , Honda Ruckus, Asian  and more incuding a Harley and a Beull.

We took a great ride through the town of Thurmont thru a covered bridge, apple orchards and on up the mountain. There were a lot of cool twisty’s and even a little distance on the real gravel back roads as we climbed into the Catoctin Mountains. We the when through the small tow of Sabillesville on on up to Cascade.

Our first stop was a GT’s,  a small gas station with a deli and great food. We rolled in there and filled the parking lot with scooters. I told them last week we would be coming through but they had no idea. By the time we were done we wiped out their Hot food section. Every one at that point were taking about scooters and eating so they could ride some more. After feeding our faces and gasing scooters we were off again.

I  led the ride now and we were off to High Rock. This is a beautiful out look that you can see as far as the eye can see. After we were almost at the top I raced ahead to get video of all the scoots coming up. There were  four Harley Davidsons pulling out and they kinda looked over at like yea ok scooter then they started off and were blocked by what seemed loike a neverending line of scooters with a Harley and a Buell with us. That was so cool! Everyone ooooed and ahhhhhed at the veiw and then we headed back down.

We now went through the Catoctin Mountain Park via Park Central Drive through some beautiful hardwood forests and winding twisting roads and all down hill. It was so cool and every body was enjoying the great ride. Down down down … to Rt 77 and back to Scootertronics in Thurmont.

After a short break it was off to the Thunder compound for a barbecue.

The ride was about 17 miles through the foothills and farmland from Thurmont to New Windsor. We pulled in and scooters filled the yard. Pulled Pork Barbecue, Southern Potato salad, Southern Macaroni salad, Cucumber and Onion Salad, Chips and Ice Tea were on the menu. Everyone ate and talked about  the ride and the day went without a problem and no rain!
